The Bharat Heavy Electricals (ranked 18 on the Fortune India 500) plant in Haridwar is the largest manufacturer and designer of steam and gas turbines, and their parts, in India. It has supplied more than 250 turbines, ranging from 100 MW to 600 MW, to both government and private firms over the years. Here a rotor is being manufactured for a 500 MW turbine.
